Republican Party of Dane County
Welcome to the Dane County GOP Website |

From The Chair By RPDC Chair, Mike Herl In our last conversation we were all hoping for a big win here in Wisconsin for our Republican candidates. The election has passed and we have to settle with a mixed bag of results. In short, it looks like Keith Ripp should hold onto the 47th after the recount has been completed. Bret Davis sailed to victory in the 80th, but the McCain/Palin ticket suffered a sounding defeat. So, do we have to ask ourselves what happened or do we already know? For those of you that can use a little help, it was because we did not have a true conservative running for the office of President of the United States. So where does this leave us in a county full of left leaning droids? It’s simple, we move forward. We move forward with working much harder at getting our message out. We must have a system in place that helps us to distribute our beliefs to the thousands of people who will ultimately come back to the conservative side within the next two years. In Dane County, over 90,000 people reportedly voted for Bush in ’04 and over 70,000 voted for McCain this past election cycle. Many of our conservative-leaning neighbors crossed over and voted for Obama because the Democrats got their message out better than we did. We will work harder at reaching these people and we are implementing systems that will enable us to do just that. This is the hard work that must be completed now at this very time in history. Use of proven old school ways along with a healthy dose of new technologies and formats will be the infrastructure that will enable us to move forward into the future. Rest assured, the Republican Party of Dane County, along with the Wisconsin Republican Party and the Republican National Committee are currently working hard on systems of message delivery for our followers. We will also work harder on finding candidates that will run for local, state and national office based on core conservative beliefs. We will also make sure that when our candidates are elected into office that they do not forget what principles got them there. We can not afford to repeat the horrible performance of the Republican run Congress and Senate of 2000 through 2006. In fact, our Republican leaders should be down right ashamed of their actions by expanding the federal government by 40% in six short years. This is ultimately what led us to the biggest defeat of Republicans in a very long time: the desertion of conservative principals. In short, we need to win back the confidence of the folks who crossed over and we need to do it now. If we’re not ready for them we may lose them forever. In our next conversation, I will lay out to our membership what their executive committee’s plan is for modernizing the Republican Party of Dane County. Until then, Merry Christmas and God bless.
