From the Chair

Greetings Fellow Republicans,

When we last spoke in January, we were all trying to avoid watching the television and reading the newspaper.  Not because of the bad economic picture, but because of the shameless slobbering by the press over Obama taking office.  Well, things haven’t changed much.  The economy is still sputtering and Obama is still enjoying rave reviews from the press.  One thing is a bit different; folks that originally wanted to give Obama the benefit of the doubt don’t give me much of an argument anymore regarding Obama being a full-blown socialist.

For those of you that still do not know, I have won my own two year term as your Chair of the Republican Party of Dane County.  For those of you that participated in our Lincoln Day Dinner and our Caucus, I want to say thank you.  It is time for me and the new members of the Executive Committee to get to work.  We have several new, young members on the committee and they have great ideas that have really energized the group.  This young talent along with our respected veterans should be a great mix and I think you will see a new vigor within the RPDC sooner rather than later.

On to business, we have some housekeeping that we must address.  First, I must ask the hundreds of members that still haven’t paid their dues to please pay as soon as possible.  We have agreed within the Executive Committee that the annual dues shall cycle out every January.  This way we can plan and budget appropriately.  Obviously, for those of you that like to contribute but don’t have time to participate, we can use your contributions also at this time.

Second, we have an election coming up.  Even though they are non-partisan races, we are supporting Nancy Mistele for Dane County Executive, Randy Koschnick for Supreme Court and Rose Fernandez for State Superintendent of Public Instruction (Obviously there are several other races going on in different areas and I encourage all of you to study up on the individuals running and make the conservative choice).  I hope all of our members understand and respect the huge implications that this election has on Dane County.  Dane County must get its priorities straight!  A train is not the answer; it’s just another building block in the liberal baby-boomer’s utopia that we have to pay for.

I hope I have good news for you in our May newsletter.  I hope to tell you that all three of the offices listed above are filled with good, common sense people.  God help us if this does not happen.  Please get out and vote on April 7th.  If you need a ride, call someone!

Until May, God bless and be well.

Mike
