From the Chair

Greetings Fellow Republicans,

I’ve about had it with the love-fest between the “give-me” faction within the left wing of the baby-boomer generation, the press and the Obama neophytes.  My hope is that an Obama presidency finally cures the guilt that these people have harbored within themselves since the early 1960’s and beyond.  Now their dream of government “cradle-to-the-grave” dominance is at our doorstep.  As always with the left-wing baby-boomers, somebody else will pay for it, just not them.  You’ve got to hand it to them; they’ve taken total control of their destiny and placed the price tag right in our laps.  Doesn’t knowing this get you excited?

Because of the nausea the Obama love-fest has generated within our ranks, I find it a wonderful time to be a Republican.  The slobbering that the shameless press has broadcast these past weeks has easily stirred the common sense element within our society, and they will be looking to us for leadership.  I’ve publically announced several times that I have all the confidence in the world that the Democratic leadership would not be able to control themselves with so much power along with an endless supply of freshly printed greenbacks.  As soon as I heard Mr. Obama state that the current economic situation could only be fixed by government I knew it was time for me to come up with another prediction.  That one was too easy.

Therefore, I have decided to run for my own term as Chair of the Republican Party of Dane County.  Come February 28th, I will have fulfilled my responsibilities of completing the term that was initially earned by Eric West.  While finishing Eric’s term we did have some highlights that I’d like to point out.  The three controversial radio commercials that we ran in the November election cycle were the red meat that we’ve been lacking locally for some time.  The election of Keith Ripp with his razor-thin win in the 47th showed us that we can win if we are willing to work hard.  And holding the Party together in general after losing Eric was a rollercoaster ride that was worth taking.  These are items that I am proud of since taking over 8 months ago, as well as the many speeches and talks in which I was invited to participate.

Now I would like to shake things up a bit.  As promised, I am putting forth my platform explaining what I would like to do if elected to my own term as your Chair.  In short, I would:

  1. Continue running one commercial per month on WIBA Radio promoting Republican ideas throughout the year.

  2. Have Nancy Bartlett work part-time in the RPDC office (three afternoons per week), so members and others have a person of contact available to speak to more so than we have now.

  3. Holding bi-weekly and monthly living room (or other small venues) meetings in all districts throughout the year.  I would like to visit the four corners of Dane County and speak to other Republicans and listen to their ideas as well as preach my beliefs of what local and national government should be.

  4. Invite my Democrat counter-part to participate in debates at small venues throughout Dane County.

  5. Separate from the golf outing, the Lincoln Day Dinner and the Christmas party, hold two major fund raising parties a year to help pay for commercials and part-time help in the RPDC office.

  6. Promote a better web-based tool that will enable people throughout the County to volunteer.  The lack of technology based tools has crippled us to a degree.

  7. Reach out to the folks that feel that state issues are more important and more glamorous than county level issues.  There seems to be many conservative minds that bypass us all together for the sexier side of Wisconsin politics.  We need them with us and we need them as members.

  8. Hold Executive Members to a higher degree of accountability.

  9. Fight the ridiculous so-called reforms of the Madison zoning ordinances.

  10. To show everyone that there is a conservative base in Dane County and that we are here to make our voices heard.  Dane County conservatives need to know that there is a place for them to visit or call about local issues that are their minds.  (We also want to make sure that our friends on the left don’t forget we’re here).

That is what I intend to do if you folks give me the honor of serving the Party on my own platform.  Please make sure that you mark your calendars to attend the annual caucus on Saturday, February 28th at City Center West.  We’ll come to order at 9am and I hope to wrap things up by noon.

Until then, please don’t give up hope on America during an Obama administration.  Like our Democrat friends, we are looking to get rid of many worthless Republicans that now hold office.  Of course the members that we are looking to oust are those that have not silenced Obama’s attempt to steal Lincoln’s message and have rolled over on a mountain of conservative issues.  We need Republicans with backbones.  It’s time to clean house folks, it’s time to start at the bottom and build a party with a solid infrastructure.  No more RINOs or moderates!

I hope to talk to you in the March issue of Facts.  With your vote on February 28th that should happen.

Thanks and God bless,

Mike
