- Dane County is represented by 6 Senate Districts and 13 Assembly Districts
- 3 Senate seats are up for election this year with no opposing party candidate
District 14 is currently held by incumbent Republican Luther Olson
District 16 is currently held by incumbent Democrat Mark Miller
District 26 is currently held by incumbent Democrat Fred Risser
- 5 Assembly District seats will have no Republican challengers
AD48 Democrat Melissa Sargent is unopposed
AD76 Democrat Chris Taylor who is an incumbent from a different AD is unopposed
AD77 Democrat Terese Berceau who is an incumbent from a different AD is unopposed
AD78 Democrat Brett Hulsey who is an incumbent from a different AD is opposed by Democrat Christopher Fisher
AD79 Democrats Ellen Lindgren and Dianne Hesselbein will square off in the Aug. 14th primary
- Incumbent Republicans are running in 3 AD races
Rep. Joel Kleefisch is opposed by Democrat Scott Michalak in AD38
Rep. Keith Ripp who is an incumbent from a different AD is opposed by Democrat Paula Cooper

In the 2nd Congressional District Republican Chad Lee will challenge the winner of the Democratic primary between former WI Rep. Kelda Helen Roys, Mark Silverman, Dennis Hall and former WI Rep. Mark Pocan.
