In a totally-not-politically-partisan, nothing-to-do-with-winning-elections decision, the Madison City Council is seriously considering a law that would require all Madison landlords to hand voter registration at their own expense to all new tenants, and to inform them of the procedure for handing in those documents and becoming registered.

Despite the fact that this law is only being sponsored by Democrats, it is totally a coincidence that this law only impacts a heavy Democrat area, and will increase the rate of registration of out-of-state students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison who might otherwise vote Democrat absentee in their home states.

Radical Democrat Bridget Maniaci insists that this law has nothing to do with using city resources to boost the vote for Democrats in November, telling the Wisconsin State Journal that “This isn’t a Democratic or Republican thing.”

And of course she’s right. Surely the Madison City Council is at this very moment encouraging their friends in Waukesha and other Republican strongholds to pass the same legislation. Perhaps they’ll pass legislation requiring voter registration at churches and NRA conventions. This is all about getting more people in Wisconsin to the polls, after all!

The Madison City Council was rightly outraged when it turned out that somebody who once worked for Scott Walker while he was Milwaukee County Executive was caught doing some work for another political campaign while on the job, comparing it to a cross between the Watergate scandal and the abdication of King Edward VIII.

Surely they would never put the entire Madison City Council to work passing legislation specifically designed to register likely Democratic Party voters in Wisconsin. After all, nobody would accuse the Madison City Council of being a bunch of hypocrites.
