RPDC Exclusive Interview With Judge Juan Colás*

RPDC:	Judge Colás, you’ve been taking a lot of heat for overturning a law that saved the jobs of thousands of teachers and improved the quality of education across the state while lowering property taxes. How do you respond to that criticism?
Colás:	Can we take cash from test scores or property taxes to help get Democrats elected? No? Then why do I care?
RPDC:	Well what about the 1st Amendment guarantee to freedom of assembly?
Colás:	That’s in the Constitution? Are you sure? Hey Maryann, do we have a copy of the Constitution left or did we shred them all? [shuffles through the trash] I can’t find one around here…. Eh. Whatever.
RPDC:	Do you concern yourself with the opinions of the voters, who have voted four times since the passage of Act 10 and in each case sided with the students and Constitution against the teacher’s unions?
Colás:	Why should I allow my rulings to be swayed by some racist rednecks clinging to their guns and religion?
RPDC:	Are you talking about Waukesha and Washington County? The Fox Valley? Iron County?
Colás:	Where? No. I’m talking about the south side of Madison. I rarely see any of those rural rubes at my bikram yoga class. I bet a bunch of them don’t even know what a cinnamon cleanse is. Animals.
RPDC:	Since leftist Madison judges are taking turns overturning laws passed by Republicans that they have no jurisdiction over, have you thought about what you guys will overturn next?
Colás:	Maybe George W. Bush’s tax cuts for small businesses. Maybe Ronald Reagan’s tax reforms. Possibly the Civil Rights Acts of the 1960s. Or perhaps the Emancipation Proclamation. I’m not sure yet. We need to ask Kathleen Falk first. Can I get back to you?
RPDC:	Sure.
