  • This election is a choice between two very different visions for our nation’s future – and neither the United States nor our allies around the world can afford another four years like the last four years.
  • Last night’s debate confirmed that Mitt Romney has a strong command of foreign policy and national security and is ready to be the next commander in chief.
  • Governor Romney understands that America’s influence in the world is driven by economic strength, military strength, our strong relationships with our allies and the power of our ideals and values.
  • In a Romney presidency, the United States will not be shaped by world events – we will shape world events. When he is president, Romney will:
    • Reverse Obama's devastating defense cuts – maintaining a military so strong that no one will dare to test it.
    • Reform foreign assistance in a way that promotes good governance.
    • Align ourselves with those in the Middle East who share our values.
    • Stand by our allies, like Israel, and be resolute with our adversaries.
    • Prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapons capability.
    • Value the opinion and advice of military commanders in the field.
  • President Obama said last night that America is stronger than when he took office. His unraveling foreign policy – and continued economic stagnation at home – tells us that’s not the case.
  • Over the last four years, thanks to President Obama’s failed foreign policy, our nation’s economy, our military and our influence is weaker today than when he came into office.
    • He pursued a pressure-free engagement policy with Iran, and on his watch, they have come to the cusp of nuclear weapons capability.
    • He has downgraded our relationship with Israel and called its concerns about a nuclear-armed Iran mere “noise” that he “blocks out.”
    • He weakened our missile defense system – a move that drew “immediate cheers in Moscow”
    • During the debate, President Obama derisively compared the modern ships our Navy has requested to “horses and bayonets,” and he’s continued to push for defense cuts that will weaken our national security, devastate our military and threaten tens of thousands of American jobs.
  • President Obama doesn't have a record to run on or a plan for the future. Mitt Romney will provide the leadership needed to protect our interests and our ideals, and he will never apologize for America.
  • Under President Obama, we will have four more years of the last four years, with a stagnant economy that fosters government dependency and a foreign policy that makes the world less safe.
  • When Mitt Romney is president, our nation will have pro-growth policies that foster upward mobility – and lift people out of poverty – and we will ensure peace through American leadership and strength.
