Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPW) spokesman Graeme Zielinski was demoted on Monday for comparing Governor Walker to Jeffrey Dahmer. The Republican Party of Dane County found this development interesting, since we had always assumed that DPW leadership had no idea what Graeme was saying.
Graeme's racism, sexism, and all around bullying has been going on for years. He falsely accused Governor Walker of defending a man who committed "boy rape." He's sanctioned violence with tweets such as: "It's Medicare's 45th birthday. Celebrate by punching a Republican." He's also famous for misogynizing women, calling female staffers "gold diggers," and nicknaming radio personality Brian Schimming "Vicki" because he apparently thinks it's demeaning for a man to work for a woman.
When one of Russ Feingold's staffers complained about Graeme "slamming women," Graeme responded with his usual refined tongue: "Oh, give it a rest you gasbag. You're a war profiteer, but I give you credit for getting paid."
Graeme’s always been a charmer.
The Republican Party of Dane County -- and surely non-racists, non-sexists everywhere -- assumed that Graeme was a lone nutcase of whom the DPW was unaware and over whom it had no control. If the DPW is now demoting Graeme Zielinski for one tweet alone, then we can only conclude that it has tacitly been endorsing his prior sexism, racism, and all of the additional violent and bullying rhetoric for which he has become nationally famous over the past few years.
And that, more than any of Graeme's terrible behavior, is truly shocking.
